Problem:
A dated waterfront cottage that has served as a transient bachelor pad for the past fifteen years. The owners wanted to turn it into a higher-end seasonal rental for visitors to the Finger Lakes Region.
Solution:
Since all the walls were white, choosing the color scheme, and painting every room was the first step. I chose light and dark shades of blue/greens (bedrooms) and gold/yellows (kitchen), and combined both those colors in the living room and porch.
For furniture, I found some treasures in the owner’s basement that were easily rehabilitated, providing a very affordable solution. We bought new rugs, and I provided custom kitsch window treatments and artwork. Although it needed to feel more inviting, I didn’t work against the retro feel that the cottage had. The floor covering in the kitchen was classic, so we went with it, and I faux wood grained the refrigerator and the stove to top it off!
Jesse’s sense of design and understanding of architectural interiors transformed our living space into a one-of-a- kind piece of art. The environment that Jesse produced through imaginative skill is practical to live in and fits the form and function of our lives. She brings her unique style and creativity to all that she does.
