Owasco Yacht Club

Problem:

This concrete block building was seriously lacking warmth and character. The decor was dated and access to the best part of the interior- the den with a stone fireplace- was blocked by tall trellis adorned with fake flowers. The other issue was the new chairs didn’t mesh with anything else in sight.

Solution:

The theme for this project is- you guessed- nautical, with the color scheme representing wine, water and sand. I matched the wine color off the chairs and painted the lower walls 3′ up, with the upper wall the golden sand color. This allowed the chairs to blend, and the two-tone wall sections created interest. A marine blue for the trim color tied in the upper sections of existing wall.

New denim cushions now grace the den furniture, and matching jean valances carry it into the main dining area. We built a small bar for added social interaction, decoupaged with old regatta photos, with a beachy shell backspalsh.

Most sections of the high trellis were curbed; the one section that remains blocking the concessions area was wallpapered on the bottom half with a natural basket weave pattern of all the palette colors, with netting on top with shells, white lights, etc. Special thanks to Susan Marteney for her major assistance with this project, as well as other board and club members.

“Jesse, Thanks, thanks, thanks! The dining room looks great. Love those colors and everyone at the bridal shower loved the club and the view of course! Thanks again for your help and cooperation. ”
