Problem:
Mike moved into a new house that had historic character, fabulous woodwork and detailing. All the walls were painted an institutional green color, and the kitchen was dark and very dated, coupled with a poor layout.
Solution:
The kitchen was gutted to accommodate new appliances and a different configuration that offered both more storage and counter space. A dead wall was faced in brick, which adds warmth to the space. Various sets of lights, both cabinet and overhead give more layered light, and make it easier to work. The dining room was painted a neutral color that offset a patterned rug, and Mike’s interesting collection of antiques and artwork. All the trim was painted cream, and I painted an antique cupboard to look like a built-in, matching the trim.
