Problem:
Kendra was in transition mode with her dining room and kitchen, and needed to rethink the color scheme. The dining room- where we focused- was a cool blue color, and we needed to warm it up and play off of the living room’s cranberry wall color.
Solution:
We took on one of the the cabinets that wouldn’t fit in the kitchen, and installed it as a buffet/bar area. I redesigned two of the china cabinets using specialty papers, metallic
paint and MacKenzie-Childs, Ltd. tiles. I decoupaged the floral papers with Mod Podge, breathing new life into the dark heavy pieces.
For the new wall color, we went with an sunny orange-yellow. The china cabinets tied into these new colors and demanded attention on their own. Now the room feels very welcoming, and is also highly practical with tons of storage and surfaces prime for entertaining. Kendra had lovely table linens that also served as inspiration for the color scheme, and that gave us the final unifying touch.
