Problem
Sheps Brewing Co. had recently moved into their new location, at a main intersection and thoroughfare on Genesee Street and William Street. They had a prime real estate exterior blank wall in downtown Auburn, that needed some color and added attention.
Solution
Lynn Larson connected me up with Kendall Doub, a talented artist working out of Winston-Salem, NC. Kendall was looking to create a mural in a city far from home, and with another successful NYSCA grant award, and some assistance from Downtown Auburn BID & Shep’s, Kendall came and spend the weekend. We decided to do the mural on outdoor panels, vs. painting right on the brick surface. This allowed for more detail and a higher quality image. Kendall sketched out the design and volunteers came to assist in filling in the designated spaces celebrating hops, the main ingredient in beer. The panels were then assembled together and coated for added protection. Cheers to beers!
